Her work is created from the idea that the ultimate wisdom comes from the continuous accumulation of knowledge, experience, imagination, and observation of nature. She wants to examine the unlimited imagination and the therapeutic effect during creation. She is mainly influenced by the natural environment, the music and the light of day. She intended, through her work, to express the transition in metaphysical symbolism and give a sense of freedom.
Evika Stamataki was born in Athens and started painting at a young age. She studied Fine Arts and Design at the Plaka Arts Center in Athens and at the University of Reading in England. She proceeded to postgraduate level in Graphic Design at ELISAVA School of Design in Barcelona. She concentrated more on painting, but her passion for art was also extended into photography and video art. Based on her experience in recent years in teaching visual arts to young children in France and Greece, she learned to inspire and help them to expand their creativity with a therapeutic manner. So, she feels the influence of childhood in her works and can make their viewers to travel by seeing them and to cross into the world of dreams and colors she envisions and senses.
