Kapia – Live Presentation of the Album Sentinel

Kapia – also performing as Bolo Tolo & The Monasteros – will present their debut album Sentinel live, along with many more original songs. This is an album of New Romantic rock featuring elements of art-rock, post-punk and electronic music with a European feel. 10 English-speaking songs by Alexandros Ioannis Iliakis sharing a lyrical theme of spectral impressions with a guard as a central protagonist, who observes, remembers, imagines or experiences strange phenomena taking place in the territory which he guards. The album’s material was recorded almost a decade ago in Athens, Greece with A. I. Iliakis on bass and vocals, George Kintis on guitar and Alexandros Voulgaris (The Boy) on keyboards and drums. With the recording process stretching much longer than expected combined with the differing views of the musicians concerning the album’s artistic direction, the band ended up dissolving immediately after the recording was completed. It remained unreleased for many years, until the fall of 2017, when Giannis Anagnostatos (Lolek) took on the task of working on it, having previously played with A. I. Iliakis in the band Touched (2003-2004) and the duo Bolek & Lolek (2005-2007). Facing a material that was difficult to approach and chaotic, G. Anagnostatos put it in order and then honed its final artistic form as producer and orchestrator. Many of the vocals, as well as some additional instruments, were re-recorded, thus securing the link of the past with the present. With the album’s artwork, Kapia pays tribute to the great Czech artist František Kupka (1871-1957) displaying paintings from 3 different decades.
