Sonia Giuliani | Memories from Colors

Sonia Giuliani | Memories from Colors

A visual investigation is triggered in scenery paintings emphasizing their depth. The first levels are presented with the smallest detail, while for example, the ecstasy of summer is expressed through the vibrant colors of a bougainvillea or through an alley in a Mediterranean village. The materialistic strokes give plasticity in the images and a sense of truth and realism which refer to dolce vita, to nature and to tranquility it offers us. The serene atmosphere and diffuse brightness, synthetic diversity and mood are often accompanied by impressionist marks and strokes in order to facilitate the understanding of evocative characters. The theme of nostalgia is evident in many of the projects in which there is often a mood echoing the soul trails. The tones of colors are bold and imposing and the atmosphere created gives a bit of magic to depicted landscapes and scenes.

Sonia Giuliani was born in Massalombarda, Ravenna, Italy. She lives in Trento. Her first contact with painting and the canvas was at a very early age. Intentionally, far from the traditional schools of fine arts she developed her technique through the individual experimentation in constant and close contact with the language of geometry and physics, two subjects which she taught until 2001 in high school. Her background allowed her to connect with the beauty and complexity of the matter and color which she captures and expresses with her intense lines and strokes through vivid and vibrant images. She has presented her work through several solo and group exhibitions in Italy and has received good appreciation from critics. [Biography updated on: 4/3/2015]
