Thomas Tournavitis | Idols

We are required to buy new eyes to approach Thomas Tournavitis. Inaccessible austerity through an empirical diagonal intersects the serenity of the obvious admiration. The hardness of the figure is not related to the repulsive uprising, so that the scripture speaks to the limits of shattered reality of the unexpected. The pattern does not allow maturity to precede childhood, thus weaned from the memories of the past. The debates and conflicts produced by the work of Thomas Tournavitis, is basically monologue dialogues that harness the ignorance of the beholder, they affect him posteriori forcing him to reconcile with his surroundings, and even never realized it himself.

“Many times when I speak, I give the impression that I am absolutely convinced. Conversely, however, I feel reborn . The truth remains to be found.”

Thomas Tournavitis was born on January 21, 1981 in Athens. He graduated in 2005 from the School of Fine Arts in Derby (UK) with post graduate studies in corresponding school in Berlin (Germany). He worked as a professor of semiotics at the Department of Photography of M. IEK of Volos and as an art teacher in private and public elementary schools of the city of Volos. His work in general rejects the art as a way of expressing artistic concerns, constitutes the unconscious and gathers chromatically, addictions and residues. He is the enemy of the abstract, showing origins of life with oil on canvas, freed from streamlining. He has been featured in world symposia painting, 14 solo and 17 group exhibitions.
