Arab-Andalusian Music

The personal style with the characteristic Arabic and Armenian sound colors of oud virtuoso Haig Yazdjian encounters the Mediterranean sound of flamenco guitar of Dimitris Koukoulitakis in a fusion of Arab-Andalusian music with unexpected musical colors and paths.

Haig Yazdjian, Oud, vocals
Haig Yazdjian was born by Armenian parents in Syria, and has been living and working in Greecesince 1980. There, he discovered the enchanting elements of Eastern music, and took up the oud as the means to express an inner undiscovered domain. Soon, he became extremely popular as an oud soloist, and one of the most characteristic vocalists. After four solo albums and numerous participations in other artists’ discographies, in 2007 comes into circulation the first studio album of Haig Yazdjian, entitled “Amalur”. Amalur in Basque language means “Mother Earth”. Haig, a citizen of the world feels that the sound of the word Amalur “beats” in pace with the music. Haig Yazdjian has collaborated with many important Greek composers and singers and soloists with international prestige. Among these are Nikos Xydakis, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Maria Farantouri, Dimitra Galani, Ellie Paspala, Eleni Vitali, Loreenna McKennitt, David Lynch, Dave Spilain, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Djivan Gasparyan, Theodossii Spassov and Glen Velez.
