DIMINUITA presents their debut album released in May 2011 entitled “a-rhythmology”.
Music that is part of the orchestral swing scene, with references to the pioneering Hot Club de France, and performances of cover versions of Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and other composers of the era.
Clear, natural sounding acoustic instruments and freedom of musical expression, with the air of swing, harmonic references to bebop, original melodic lines and rhythmic flexibility characterizes the music of DIMINUITA.
DIMINUITA The Swing Trio
DIMINUITA made their first appearance ςιτη this name in November 2007, in Athens Greece. They have been playing and teaching music for at least fifteen years. For the last years though, they are solely working on European Jazz (Jazz Manouche). That is the European version of string swing (also called “chamber jazz”), as it was originally played in the 1930’s by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli of The Quintet Hot Club de France.
They are a part of the orchestral swing scene. Emphasis is given in the natural, acoustic sound of the instruments without additional audio effects or interventions. However, the musicians’ freedom to improvise – a typical quality distinct and yet so absolute in all jazz forms – is of primary importance. They aim to a creative communication in which clear musical expression will be the sole mediator, without the interference of speech or other artificial sound media.
From November 2008 to 2010, the band occasionally collaborated with Romanian violinist Damian Dudu. Since August 2009 Kostas Arsenis is a member of the band playing Double bass.
In November 2009, the band cooperated with the band FOS (Further off Sight), and create the album “Europe your Rope” that realesed by Donna Luna Productions. In this album, G.Papadogiannis composed 4 of its tracks, and he was responsible for arrangements and orchestrations of the whole work. On May 2011 band’s first official cd “a-rhythmology” was released. It includes 8 original compositions of Giorgos Papadogiannis and 2 arrangements on J.S.Bach’s and M.Ravel’s themes. The production belongs to Giorgos Papadogiannis.
They have performed at many live clubs in Athens and Europe.
